Guide for Authors - Marketing your Book
Websites, Blogs, Newsletters and Email
Around the time your book is due to be released, the Marketing Department at Edward Elgar Publishing will provide you with a full-sized JPEG scan of the book jacket, a PDF flyer for your book and a direct weblink to your book's page on our website. These can be used on websites, blogs, sent out on listservs or electronic newsletters, or emailed to your friends, colleagues and other contacts. You can also include the weblink in your email signature.
- If you have colleagues who publish relevant blogs, or if there are blogs or websites in the area that you read regularly, let them know about your new book and ask them to post an announcement about it.
- If you participate in any listservs, discussion lists or electronic newsletters in areas relevant to your book, consider posting an announcement about the book. Some lists may have rules about posting promotional items - if you have any doubts, contact the list administrator.
- The PDF flyer can be emailed to your contacts and it can be printed out and distributed at workshops and conferences you are attending.
- If you have a Twitter account, be sure to Tweet the link to your book on our website. You can also follow Edward Elgar Publishing on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/ee_publishing
Amazon Author Pages
Amazon.com has recently launched a new program where you can set up your own page on their site including biographical information, links to your books and even has a blogging facility. To set this up you'll need to join Amazon Author Central at: https://authorcentral.amazon.com/
'Search Inside' Widget on your website
We are currently preparing our own 'Search Inside' function for the Edward Elgar Publishing website. This will be similar to Amazon's 'Search Inside the Book' function. In the meantime, you may want to use the free widget called Google Preview provided by Google that links to the Google Book Search program. (Please Note: If we do not have electronic rights to your book, it will not be available at Google Books Search or on the Elgar Search Inside program. This will also not be available if you have requested that your book is not included in the Google Book Search program.)
